Bacon Wrapped Smokies

I love appetizers...but I loathe making them.  They always seem like so much work for just a little bit of finger food.  These however, are actually easy and produce a fair amount of food.  It's easily doubled or tripled depending on how many people you are feeding.

1 (14oz.) package beef cocktail weiners
1 lb. bacon; cut into thirds
1 cup brown sugar

Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
Wrap each smokie in a piece of bacon and place in a baking dish, seam side down.  Sprinkle 3/4 cup of brown sugar all over the smokies.  Bake for 40 minutes or until bacon is done.  Remove the pan from the oven and reset the oven temperature to Broil.  Sprinkle the remaining 1/4 cup of brown sugar over top of the smokies and place under the broiler for 2-3 minutes or until the bacon is crispy.  Baste with the brown sugar sauce at the bottom of the pan before serving.
