Johnny Marzetti

This is a very nostalgic recipe for my husband.  His great-grandma used to make it for him when he was just a little guy.  When he comes home from work and finds out I've got it on the stove, he starts in on some of his favorite stories about his sweet great-grandma.

1 lb. ground beef
1 onion, diced
2 cups dry macaroni, or other small pasta
2 cans tomato soup
1 1/2 cans of water
1/3 cup sugar
salt and pepper to taste
shredded cheddar cheese as garnish

Brown ground beef with onion, drain and set aside.  In a large pot cook pasta according to directions on package and drain.  Return pasta to the large pot and add all other ingredients including beef and onion mixture.  Heat through until warm and bubbly, adding salt and pepper as you go until it is to your liking.
