Classic Buttercream Frosting

This is the standard buttercream frosting recipe I use when I decorate cakes.  You can change the flavor by adding different extracts in lieu of the butter extract.

1 cup crisco
2 lb. pure cane confectioner sugar
1/2 cup water
1 tsp. clear vanilla extract
1/2 tsp. butter extract (or whatever flavor you want)
3/4 tsp. salt

Combine all ingredients and mix 5-10 minutes on low to medium speed.
